I am Sophie van Bree (1995), a Dutch documentary filmmaker and director, with my heart in Scotland. My life revolves around storytelling. I am fascinated by the gap between our inner and outer worlds, and everything that exists beneath the surface.

In my films, I focus on sensitive and relatable themes in society, often connected to mental health and the vulnerable, searching aspects of being human.

With a strong sense of story, an ethical and community-led approach, a passion for writing, international experience in storytelling, and a love for poetry within the audiovisual form, I create intimate, layered documentaries and other media that open up conversation.
